Default Would you tell the police?

A chap I know has just got his driving licence back after a 6 month ban and has bought a car that is registered as a 1.8 and insured as such BUT it has a 2.0 turbo engine in it.

Would you tell the police? Not like he can plead ignorance, its got a massive I/C and a dump valve on it.

Yes. He is the reason the rest of us pay so much on insurance. I assume he got banned for a good reason...

He'll soon be in trouble, given his history he'll show as a risk, only take a roadside check or similar. Null & Void insurance 6 points, fines but as for telling the police not sure they'd be interested?? Perhaps if you tell them his speeding as well lol, but on a serious note wouldn't want to be in an accident with him as you wont get a payout from his insurance. So out of personal interest yeah he shouldn't get away with it, sorry for the long post but had dealings in similar circumstances.

You would get paid out, regardless of whether he was insured or not by the MIB iirc. I personally would not waste my time informing the Police (unless I had a gripe with him maybe) as above he will get himself into bother more than likely.

I hope he doesn't kill or injure anyone, because of the extra power.

DVLA would need to know too? RFL on a 1.8 would be less than the S3 (or S2?) engine in the car?

Anyways, it really annoys me, he is knowingly commiting fraud and is actually proud of it. Not got a grudge against him. He lost his licence because of points accumulation, speeding etc etc.

You may as well, but they probably won't do anything as it involves them actually going round to look at something.
Now I need a turbo to keep up!

With that his insurance is null and void, and he would be in trouble with the dvla as he has informed them of the change in engine.
