You need the spec of your spray gun and buy a compressor that can provide the right pressure and more importantly CFM (cubic foot per minute) most half decent guns need a constant 14 cfm but at low pressure. Hence newer guns are HVLP which means high volume low pressure..

    Hope that make some sense?

To spray you need a good constant pressure basically, so that means a larger container. I started out with a 50ltr 2hp one and it was constantly on trying to keep up, The one I'm selling will hold about 10-15 mins of air which is Ideal.

Basically if you blow down a straw you can get a good pressure of air but not much flow. If you blow down a drain pipe you'll run out of puff very quickly. To spray with a half decent spray gun you need a compressor that can provide enough air at a good pressure. Some smaller compressors are listed to run at say 3bar but can only flow say 7CFM (cubic feet per minute) but a spray gun may need 14CFM at say 1bar so less pressure but more flow.

    Probably still makes no sense!
