    Default 1.8 vvti re-map

    Hi

Just had this e-mail back from MPG Middlewich

Hi nick thanks for the email
Yes we can do the map on this car for you
Gains on the map are up to 30 bhp and a 25% increase in torque
It does eliminate the flat spot that this engine has and rev limit does go up also
On average the fuel consumption does increase by up to 10-15%

    Cost £380 incl VAT.

Before I book the car in has anybody had this remap done and if so was the extra torque and hp benificial.

    Thanks
    Nick

That's an unusually high power gain for a small capacity, normally aspirated engine; but it's also unusual for them to say the fuel consumption increases. Most remappers say that if you drive at the same speed as previously, it'll use the same or less fuel.

do a search on the 1.8 mate, you will find that the majority of people will say dont bother shelling out on a remap for it
the gains you 'may' get from a remap wont be worth the money spent, and if you want to get rid of the flat spot then the airbox mod sorts that out easily enough, and its free

The VVt will get more gains from just a remap than a normal naturally asperated engine because its VVt. Toyota have been doing vvt engines for years and they reckon for bigger power increases than some small turbo cars.

I have only ever seen a few 1.8VVT's on a rolling road and all sat in the power range of 145-157bhp.
