I had this sound, but did`t know what is it...
I hear just in some times...not permanently....when the car is stops...and turn the wheels in left or right something sounds from wheel compartment...I think is sound like a spring...but not a broken spring...because mine is not broken but still sounds...I think is somewhere in the top of spring...somewhere there...(my opinion)...
And sounds sometimes when driving with low speed (10 mph)and crossing some small bumps...(speed slower)...
You where hear the noise ?Is the same like mine?
Broken spring... Mine didn't look broken when had the wheel off but i didn't notice the 2 inch missing from the bottom. made the same noise till changed...
not sure if this is the same thing but i have a clicking sound when i move the steering wheel a inch to the right and a inch to the left but it only clicks once each way if i go right all thwe way back right a bit then right again it will nto clikc its like going left resets it
it clicks as i turn it
any thoughts guys ?
track rod ends are most likley to be shot. get some one to wiggle the steering wheel as you put you hand on the top of each track rod (no need to remove any road wheels just reach behind) and you will probably feel the ball joint clicking in and out, like iokarus says you wont feel it if you do all the way but you can feel it when you slightly move the wheel. hope this helps
or it could be strut bearings as they clunk and ping when they are shot.
or could be everything thats been suggested- though I hope not lol
anti roll bar link worth a look get someone to turn the wheel wilst holding link bars mine was starting to sease up causing a clunk noise that you feel through the steering wheel replaced it probs gone away
Drop links or springs I'd say.
If the springs are not broken, (feel the end and if its jagged, they have broke), I'd say a new set of drop links is required.

i have a 120cdti used as a taxi....i can guarantee you its the front strut top bearings...i have changed quite a few...well i just go to the breakers and pick up a used complete strut...quite easy to change...when you remove your old one feel the top bearing and i bet its lumpy when you turn it.....i beleive you can buy the top bearing/bushes new....good luck
