    Default Chip Repair

Just thought I would share my days experience as my hands are now crippled from the work !

I was fed up of spending time washing the car when there were so many stone chips and scratches that needed attention and as I cant afford a respray I asked around some friends.

One Subaru fanatic told me of Chipex that he had used so thought Id give it a go and post the results on here. There are other products of a similar naure but this was the only UK based one I could find.

Some Pics before with stone chips evident plus one mamoth scratch from its time on the beat.

The following pics are after one application but I think it will need at least one more to get the best results.

Hope this helps anyone thinking of something similar the process was simple blob a little colour into the chips , let it dry then use a solvent on a cloth to polish the excess off. However the polishing is tough to get the excess off and aching hands will ensue !

I have seen similar stuff to that mate, good to see that it actually works. Is that the stuff that you wait until the fresh paint has gone tacky and then blend in?

Yes the colour match is done by paint code on ordering and after applying the colour you need to wait a couple of mins then rub off the excess keeping the cloth flat so it leaves the paint in the repair. I on the other hand went mad with the paint and so it was all pretty damn hard to get off by the time I started with the solvent

Yep Alan , If you remember I asked you some questions before buying it !

A google seacrh on ' Chipex ' will bring it up for you or go to www.chipex.co.uk.

Thinking about it , I managed to stowaway on the last Scoobynet group buy getting a £12 discount so if enough people are interested I will try and sort a group buy discount code out.

Yes, the paint is laquered so when doing the repair work you can see the filled chips when looking up close but Im hoping some carnuba wax later will finish the lot nicely.

It wasnt until I had completely finished and looked back at my original photos until I appreciated the result.
