how do you go about getting this and how do you prove it
i was always under the impression that you only got trade price if you worked for vx or maybe in the trade?

I think that is the general idea. People who are not connected with the trade probably won't be able to get a card, unless they are very good blaggers and also have some documents.
Either you are in the trade, you have a trade club number or as in my case... the parts lads at my local dealer are a good bunch & they would rather keep a regular customer happy, all they do is put a cash charge through to a known trade account
i get trade prices as im in the trade but also get better than trade prices at vx ( 33% off retail prices ) as im a vauxhall pension holder
I have a trade club card and discount varies.
Yeah, I almost always get full trade, the two main guys on the parts counter at my local dealers have known me for years as a regular customer.
They keep a list of "dormant" trade club accounts stored away, to use specifically for this purpose. They just do it as a cash sale to one of those accounts for me usually.
Not everything is on trade club though.
