    Default Servicing

    hello all.
just bought a corsa for the mrs. its only a 2002 and in need of a service.

Probably will do it myself as any idiot could. as i'm sick of spending £150. on them when you can get a service kit fo £20.

only thing that bothers me is that i wont get a stamp in the service book (possible put people off purchasing it at a later date)

does anyone here service their cars themselves?

can i legally fill the service book out myself and possibly purchase a stamp??

    any advice much appreciated

for the age of the car a stamped upto date book wouldnt really effect the value, as long as you keep all receipts that show you bought the parts needed then that should be fine.

I do all of my own servicing for my motors mate, you can legally do what you like in the service book as its not a legal document, I wouldn't be buying a stamp though.

When you come to sell the car, privatly or trade in if they ask about servicing tell the truth

piece of cake doing the corsa, did you go for the 1.2 ?, Dont forget the fuel filter when servicing! most people dont check and therefore it gets missed. Its in front of back wheel area drivers side.

I self service, always have. I also have my own stamp... but it really doesn't matter, just write in the book as a record of what you have done. I would very much doubt that the next owner will really care that much who does it, or how much it affects the value of the car.

No its held in a clamp and is fairly easy to do!, just look underneath in front of the back wheel drivers side.

Back on topic....I doubt if a garage stamp on a 2002 corsa would make any material difference to its future re-sale value.
