Question BSR, K&N, airbox mod & eibachs.......what next

    Hi all,

Was considering swapping my Siggy recently, but decided to keep it so now I am looking at tweaking it some more.

Been playing catch-up on here (specifically this section) and am trying to figure out what I can do next to get some performance gains. I'm happy to chuck a good few quid at it, but am also conscious of diminishing returns. Seen some posts about hybrid turbos, intercoolers, etc. and whilst I *could* go this route, I'm not really interested if the gains are minimal compared to the cost.

I am going to sort the shocks out regardless (left the standard ones when I stuck the Eibachs on) and might stick some better discs on too, but right now I am interested in further tuning. I do not want to split the engine and get to polishing/porting the head, so what "bolt-on" mods could you guys recommend?

    Thanks in advance guys!

Very little to be honest mate, you could get a nice twin exit exhaust system, not much in terms of power but would look very good indeed. Like you have already said, up-rate your shocks and fit better brakes (VXR?) then concentrate on the looks (alloys kit etc), get any blemishes sorted and get it minted, that would be my recommendation.

    cheers guys

Already been in touch with exhausts uk - based on my doorstep here in sheffield, so has to be worth a punt. Has anyone else got a BSR/stainless exhaust combo? They guys said the full system would give approx 10bhp - is this an aspiration on their part, or is it realistic?

Managed to find a twin-pipe back skirt too, courtesy of "caveman nige" from here so the mods plan is taking shape.

Still interested in the hybrid turbo or intercooler options tho - or has anyone sussed out how to transplant the TTiD blower from the Saab onto the VX block?

Wouldnt the 3.0 turbo not spool up till around 3.000 rpm due to the lack of exhaust gases?

Not sure that you would get the 3.0 turbo to fit where the 'four-potters' is anyway.

Bigger turbos usually mean more lag, which the four-potters have more than enough of already. This is why Saab put twin turbos on its 180 bhp 1.9.

3.0 is a variable vain turbo, and it's also not compatible on the 1.9.
