    Did the heater work?
Did the pipe from the engine back to the radiator feel hot?

What engine do you have in your Signum? I have seen on previous threads that diesels take longer to warm up than petrols.

You don't say how long your journey was but you obviously had the heater on. I had the same concern with my Signum 3.0 CDTi when I test drove it and it was only at the end that I found that the gauge worked. It still takes much longer to reach working temperature than I was used to with my previous petrol Astras. I drive around 17 miles to work and it typically takes 5 or 6 miles of ordinary driving before my temperature gauge starts to move and a couple more miles before it reaches its normal 85 degrees. In winter, it sometimes doesn't warm up completely before I reach work if I have the heater on fully!

I had the thermostat replaced under warranty but it hasn't changed things to any great degree.

Hope the solution is as simple as mine

Go into test mode on the dash display and you will get a digital temperature gauge, this is more accurate than the gauge itself.

It'll give you an idea as to how out of calibration the gauge is. The gauge can then be re-calibrated using tech 2.

If it's the CD70, then press and hold down the Settings button until "test mode on" is displayed, then keep pressing the BC button until the relevent option is displayed.
