whats the worst think you have done to yourselfs while diy'ing,

a few days ago i knocked myself out with a drill, yes a drill, putting a new tv bracket up on the wall, with a big hammer drill i borrowed.

i begun to drill holes, got to my fourth hole and it wouldn't go in,so on i go trying to get it in, but drill was at the side of my face as i was pushing in to wall, then drill got stuck, i lost grip on drill and wham straight in the face, it knocked me out, the wife thought i was joking with what she explained was like watching a stunt as i flew over sofa, until she relised i didn't move,

so got up afet 5mins and wow did that drill hurt, it made 2 of my treeth go through my lip so had to get stiches on inside and outside of the top of my mouth. i swear im not going to do that in a hurry again.

I crossed live and earth on a shower pull cord (30A) in my old house, which threm me off the ladder and down the stairs - although I thinkI was lucky and escapped with a few scrathes and bruises... maybe this should be moved to the 'silliest diy incident' thread!

Can't remember what I was doing but a few months back I was doing a job on the Car and lay a Brand New Stanley Knife blade down in the boot, it was dark.............I went rummaging for it and found it and promtly sliced my finger as I picked it up, dropped it again for some reason, went to find a rag to wrap round my finger then went back to pick it up with my other hand and yep you've probably guessed it.............................promptly cut my Thumb on the other hand

Moral of the story........don't lay Stanley blades down in the dark and then go looking for them

Oh and don't stand in a wet shower base when cutting live cables............................................ ..........Its ****** hurts lol

about ten years ago i was renovating a house, i had broken up some old built in wardrobe frames and had taken them out to the skip.. The frames were floor to ceiling jobs and therefore to long for the skip, I leant the pieces on the edge of the skip and thought i would stamp down on the centre and break them up.. one broke nicely and i picke dup the pieces and chucked them inthe skip.. I then moved onto the next piece and proceeded to stamp on it, this it also broke nicely in the middle but the top bit came flying towards me and smacked me square in the chops and i went down like a sack of spuds.. my old neighbour bless here came and helped me up, like Andy i had my teeth go through my lip, almost knocked my teeth out, they were wobbly for a week. I tore up the side of my nostril and knocked the end of my nose off to the left (its made of cartlidge and quite easy done, have done it three times before). I drove myself to hospital and straightened my nose in the toilets whilst i was waiting to be treated....
My old Signum, the animal; she now rests in pieces in several other members cars.. https://www.vectra-c.com/forum/garag...vehicle&id=200
