I hope I don't embarass anyone by doing this, but I gotta say it - seeing as those of you who see me at Billing will know soon enough.
Cara (Mrs GSi) caught me on MSN on Saturday after seeing my thread about my little accident (clicky for those who've been living in a cave lately! ).
We were chatting about the accident etc. etc. when Cara somewhat stunned me when she asked me if I'd like to borrow her Vectra whilst mine is being repaired. To cut a longish conversation short, I ultimately took her up on her offer whilst still being a bit overwhelmed at this massively generous offer. I got her to promise to tell me what it'd cost for her to add me to her insurance so I could reimburse her! It means my trip to Billing will be in massively more comfort than if we'd driven up in my wife's Corsa - especially as her AC has recently decided to stop working!! It will also make taking my equipment to jobs somewhat easier as well. So Cara, I can't thank you enough!
Then yesterday, yes there's more!, Mark (the Cabby) caught me on MSN and we were having a chinwag. I mentioned about Cara's car - as he'd have found out about it soon enough - and that I was going to be jumping on a train on Tuesday to collect.
Then Mark came out with something that somewhat stunned me "Do you want me to come and collect you and take you up there? "But you're in Essex m8, I'm in East Sussex - it's nowhere near you!" "I know, but I'm not doing anything Tuesday".
So after a bit of a conversation where I'm still not quite believing Mark's offer - and he's practically taking no for an answer - I gratefully accept. It'll certainly beat a three hour train journey in hot, sticky trains! And the company would be appreciated as well!
When I said to him that I'd obviously give him some money for his diesel, I won't tell you what he said - apart from it ended in off!
This, for me, is what a huuuge part of this club is all about. A bunch of great people who will go out of their way to help other people. I know I've become good friends with Mark and Cara over the course of meeting them at several meets - as well as meeting up with them outside of any club events - but I was genuinely humbled by Cara's offer.
And I've meet Mark the Cabby a couple of times, and helped him out on the forum/over the phone with bits 'n' pieces - but once again was gobsmacked by his offer.
So, I just wanted to publicly thank them and hope I haven't embarassed them!
