    Angry TID to GID angst

i have a few things to say. i love the forum. i have sourced all of the bits and fitted them, and am now awaiting tech2 on tuesday, now absolutely nowhere on the how2, have i read anything about having the need for buttons on the 'steering wheel' other than the roller on it, so after all of this, am i right in thinking its a waste of time and money, a useless exercise without said buttons, can i get around this by reinstalling the cdr2005 hu or is there a wiper stalk with a wheel on it to maybe cycle through the options or do the 2 buttons already on the stalk do the job? is a full reversal of said job needed re-installing the tid? or at more expense, do i buy a new steering wheel.

by the way, my car is a 2004 Vectra Energy 2.0DTI.

can somebody please help me, because the initial excitment i felt at doing this and seeing the screen light up and tell me to check washer fluid, then start snowing on the screen because of the frost, was amazing, i'm actually quite devastated now.

    all the very best,
    and many thanks in advance,
    michael

ps, on proof reading this post, i apologise for all of the questions in such short succession

2004 is half canbus i believe to you should have steering wheel with 3 buttons in a line on either side. If this is the case then only buttons you require to controll the screen are the buttons are on the end of the wiper stalk - if you dont have these you'll need to change The wiper stalk - the part costs £20 new from stealers and just clip the old one out and that one on............. Simples!
    Thn go get tech2 activation....

you will also require washer fluid sensor otherwise you'll always get warning for washer fluid - checkout ebay.... £7 ish.

the buttons on the steering wheel is only for the control of the radio.. except if you install the NCDC radio, then they also work for the screen.

you don't need buttons on steering wheel to operate GID BC functions this is all done via stalk buttons, and as Robsey has said you may need Washer sensor or join the 2 wires together to fool it into thinking its full HTH

Just so you know, my 2005 Full Canbus Vectra Energy 1.9CDTi came with a basic CD30, TID and no steering wheel buttons.

(Tends to be only lower spec models and "specials" that miss out on these buttons and rollers).

Got scrollers and buttons fitted now with my CD70 and CID.
