    Arrow Cleaned EGR Valve Success!

Just thought I'd let you know that this morning I gave the EGR valve and inlet on my 06 CDTI 150 a good clean having taken it to a local mechanic who diagnosed an "AIRLEAK ON THE AIR INTAKE SIDE".

During the week I have cleaned the boost sensor and did a 10K de-coke but wanted to leave the EGR until I had a bit more time.

Having spoiken to Vauxhal who said it probably wouldn't be covered under Network Q and would have charged me £60 just to diagnose I thought it would be worth a shot and thank god I did.

It runs like new and the pickup / responsiveness is better than ever

My mechanical abilities are fairly limited but having done a bit of research on here I approached it methodically and all went well.

Please give this a go before spending your hard earned cash unnecessarily.

The only isuues I had was when restarting it it took a couple of goes to fire and there were a few funny noises but been for a thrash and all seems great!

Well done!, i would recomend doing these type of jobs yourself as most people here wouldnt post if they thought it was beyond doing fairly easily!, hope you cleaned out the hole in the manifold where the EGR bolts on?, its a small' ish hole and always gets clogged up with crud.

I did indeed. It was absolutely full of s**t. To the point where I can't imagine anything could have got through anyway.

Its all part of the game!!, I have to remove mine every couple of months due to very short stop/start journeys (cdti's hate this, but love motorway work), I have heard this said b4 regarding tar'ish deposits rather than soot , it cant be drastic so bear with it, ill ask mate at vx see what he comes up with!, And anyone is more than welcome to ask as much as they want! its a pleasure to help and hopefully saving money along the way.

You might get an Engine Management light for a day or two after cleaning, I did on the Astra. A quick dose of redex diesel cleaner and after a few days all lights out and back to normal. Only telling you so you dont worry if you get a light.

you'll find this place a mind full of information BUT don't let the bad reports get to you, Ive been there and thought many times ITS GOTTA GO!!, 6yrs on this July its still here!, Ive had mine virtually from new and there's been plenty of downs but there should have been a lot less, they should have paid more attention to reliability, it seems as though someone rushed this engine type through without thought to all its application's. its a brilliant rep/motorway car but short/stop/start city+town work is its worst nightmare!.
