Default How do I get the gear knob off

Err, sorry, that should read... 'How do I get the gear knob off ?'

Mine has developed that annoying click each time I change gear and I would really like to fix it before it falls off. Any ideas ? Vectra CDTi 07-reg. Thanks.

From what i've read, I think you'll have to cut it off.. Thats what we had to do to fit an Irmy one..

You will require the following :- LARGE HAMMER, LARGE DRIFT, LARGE HACKSAW and LARGE MUSCLES and a portion of luck. A lot of people have tried to do this and most end up using these.

So it's not on a thread ? ...and the right place is ?

( NB - apologies to the mods for using a two-word version of the thread title in the original post... Just read the swearing rules and no, my granny wouldn't have been impressed with the original )

hi i had the same problem gear knob clicking and i fixed it quicker than it took to write this, prise out the center plstic bit that has the 123456 speeds 0n it it just pops back in but be gentle then with a hamer and a drift look in side the top off the gear knob and you will see a ali round bit, not too hard but a small frim knock down towards the center in line with the gear stick and no more click ive done 1000 miles since i did that and still no click.

My signum had this annoying ptoblem until today when it popped off in my hand when changing gear at traffic lights!
VX dealer quoted £200 for a replacment(you need to replace the whole gear lever)
They suggested some araldite would be a cheaper solution.
