gear change

my dmf has been rattleing for a few weeks now, would this affect the gears as i am finding it hard to go from 1 to 2 i know the f40 gear box is crap when changing gears when cold, the clutch seems ok have to let it up some way before it bites, anybody else have this prob.

When my DMF was on it's way out on my old Pug 307 it was difficult going from 1st to 2nd.
