It depends on what you currently have fitted
This is likely to be Good Year NCT5 215/510R17 91W (about £120 fitted)
You can easily swapped to any other brand on this size, but there isn't much choice

Alternatively, you can swap to the 225/45R17 (fit the new tyres to the rear and that way you wear out the previous size quicker) which will work out vastly cheaper in the long term
The Good Year GSD3 is an excellent alternative, this has been reintroduced due to customer feedback and demand for a directional tyre
I went through several and thoroughly recommend it, but it was discontinued in the XL rating (at about £160 fitted and as recommended for the 3.0 V6 CDTI)
I am currently using Good Year Assymetric and it is the next best thing, at about £105 fitted
Avoid Dunlop TT and GT (at about £90 fitted), I had one set of each and although great on some cars, completely useless on the Vectra C

If you really want to push the boat out, then go for Michelin (at about £140 to £220 fitted)
That's my normal tyre of choice, but the range in 215/50R17 and 225/45R17 isn't that impressive (compared to the Good Year)

Personally, buy the best you can afford

i deffo dont want budget tyres

i usually go to 'viking international' pick the tyres up at trade and then pay the extra to get them fitted

i was quoted £170 for a nct5 to be supplied balanced fitted ect
i picked one up for under £110 and fitting was £10

so its a great saving on 4

i need 4 so rotating them isnt going to help i need 4

Although I initially liked them when I changed my NCT5's to the GSD3, the constant tramlining soon got on my wick. It actually made driving the car long distances quite fatiguing. In some respects I'm glad they only lasted 10,000 miles (on the front).

Now running Rainsport2's, and have just swapped the fronts to the rears after approx 11,000 miles and they still have 4 to 5mm of tread left on them.

In short the rainsports have lasted a lot longer that the GSD3's and the handling is a lot better than when I had the GSD3's fitted.
