    Angry hows your luck

    i bought my sri cdti 150 nearly 3 weeks ago and today i run out of diesel in it a mate bought me down a jerry can of diesel got it running again and then went to the nearest garage and filled it right up it started driving back to normal again and came out of limp mode until i was nearly home and it cut out again it wasnt until we got the bonnet up we realised i had actually brimmed it with super unleaded. anyone no worst case scenario costs.

    Worst case scenario. Fuel pump, injectors, pistons, valves and catalyst would need replacing. Not sure of exact cost but it would be thousands.

    However. You now need to drain all the petrol out of the tanks, lines, filter, pump, rail and lines. Then refill the filter housing with diesel, put some diesel in tank and try it.

    You may be surprised, you may not be. It all depends how long it ran on petrol.....

    well it had 5ltrs of diesel that got me to the garage then had 55 ltrs of petrol put on top it started to slow after about 2 miles which was when i turned the engine off so hopefully it hasnt done too much damage really hopefully

    dosn't sound good, how did you know you put in the wrong fuel by lifting the bonnet

    The petrol you drain out of the tank (ie 55 litres) may be OK to use in a normal petrol car if you add it say 10 litres at each tank fill over the next 5 tank fills.. Instead oif dumping it.

    Get it drained replace the filter ..probably be fine mate

    well i thought it was still an air lock in my engine so i took the fuel line off the filter to see if there was any fuel getting too the engine and then could smell it

    flush petrol out get a good few dashes of millers sport in there and fill to the brim with deisel, fingers crossed for you.

    all sorted cheers for your help lads drained tank new fuel filter plenty of diesel good as new need to get the warning light turned off now though lucky escape.
