Default I found the best price for a new turbo 3.0 V6 cdti 2003

My turbo gave up 3 weeks ago so I searched around for a replacement. After scouring the posts here I called Turbotechnics, Turbosolutions, Midland turbos and others. Some said they could supply a rebuilt one but Turbotechnics and Turbosolutions said it was a new one only. Looking at more websites told me that Garett no longer recommend rebuilding variable nozzle turbos which this one is. A little more sluthing showed me that the 717410-7 on my car has been superceded by the 717410-500S. So now I was searching for this latest model. The best price by far was from Unipart Automotive (Partco)Chelmsford(tel 01245 281244), £702 including VAT and overnight delivery to them. I collected it the next day and brought it back in my hand luggage to France(I was in the UK for 3 days for another reason). I cannot recommend them highly enough!

Opel France wanted the equivalent of £2300! The turbo is now fitted and I shall post separately on that.

The turbo fitted to the prefacelift 3.0CDTi ie. Y30DT is a GT2559V Garrett turbo. Turbo code 717410-5007S. Any upgraded or modified turbo would have to come with a custom remap or a complete software update from a dealer.

Actually, the number on my original turbo is 717410-7; It has now been superceded by 717410-5007S which is what I bought and fitted. This is a straight swap without a remap etc

Yes, these numbers were on the little garrett plate of each turbo. The later number was also on the garrett box. When I googled the first number, some websites came up with the second number saying that it was that number, now superceded by the new number. This doesn't mean that it is upgraded or modified in performance, possibly a change to a component such as a seal or a bearing?

Europarts item has a £58.75 surcharge, making it £708.94. But, most importantly, this is an exchange, reconditioned item. It is also out of stock, possibly because Garrett are no longer recommending that this item is reconditioned. You will also not likely get the latest version. You also have to return your item and may find it is not eligible for the refund of the surcharge. For £702 from Unipart, I received a brand-spanking new, latest version item in the box from Garrett.
