Maurauth, were admin able to get his details from when he signed up as a full member?

admin have said they have his details but data protection laws mean they can't disclose to us- only to the old bill, which is fair enough.

however I think the bloke actually bought something or sold something on VVOC legit, or half-legit at least, and met up with someone who got his car registration and pictures of the car - and they checked the address that people on VVOC had for him and funnily enough his car is parked outside it. somewhere in wrexham.

Yep if he uses an internet dongle, also pretty sure that ip addy's change from time to time anyway

tbh my interwebs knowledge isn't exactly 100%, but would have thought that the forum would get not just his dynamic IP if that is the case, but wouldn't there be mac address checks etc?

None of us can mate. We used to be able to but when guys put things up for sale all you got was a whole thread of replies saying it was over priced and not worth it. This was you can start a thread saying you have X for sale and anyone who is interested then PM's you. If it fails to sell at that price you can add to your own thread and alter the price.

No updates as yet. All we can do is advise people to go and make asteatement to the Police, give them our (admin) contact details and then leave it to the Police. Other than that there aint a vast amount we can do unfortunately. That is why we advise members to always use PayPal and NEVER send as a gift, or use a credit card. At least then you have some protection. Especially if you then go to the Police and make a statement and get a crime number, you have then got proof of your legitamacy of a claim against either PayPal or your card.

It is a Horrible situation ive made a lot of freinds through this forum near and far and I hate to think of it being used by some

for there own personal gain , were all here because we are passionate about our cars and more on top and some people think they can abuse it. But hey we move on and its only one

out of the thousands on here.

It could be that the "seller" is not able to respond for whatever reason (incapacity, death etc.), you never know.
If they are a fraudster, they won't get away with it for long.
Don't let it drop- the seller has to be a full member to sell items, so why can't the full name and address be forwarded to the police? Obviously I'm missing something :/
