    confused Problems already...advice please!

    Well as some of you might have seen ive just signed up as ive recently bought a 1.9 CDTi 120 vectra.

    *The problem is when i slip her out of gear and roll upto say some traffic lights for example, the engine/ car vibrates like its in gear and about to stall?*

    Then when i stop the revs pick back up to normal idle speed.

    Anybody else experienced this problem or know how to stop it.

    *Also anyone know what Oil i should use ( I know i can just read the manual, but i want personal favourites etc as you guys have actually used/ tried different makes, types etc)*

    Thanks in advance for any help!

    you take it out of gear before stopping???

    you have no control of the car then in case you need to get out of the way of anything about to rear end you

    if the car dont vibrate when you stay in gear as you pull up at the lights, then dont take it out of gear before you stop

    When at idle, if you half depress the clutch, do you get the same sort of judder?

    As for oil, 5w30 is what's in mine.

    Brilliant, cheers for that mate.

    Nope dont get the judder (which is a good way to describe it) at idle.

    It appears to be when the engines been reving / car moving and i start to slow down, take it out of gear, roll abit that it does it.

    And to stop any discussions about my driving style, lets say it does it when i'm pulling up outside my house after work

    is it only when its out of gear? youve never noticed it when pullling away? my last vectra had a judder noticed when i was at a stand still but could feal it slightly when driving sometimes felt like a slight shake on engine as if it was about to cut out. mine was down to cylinder head cracked also i was noticed coolant was going fast. also why are you asking about oil is it low im not certain but i think you can burn oil fast if the head is gone. im not saying this is whts up with yours could be something a lil more simple but get it checked out if you can notice it alot

    Mine shakes a bit if I raise the rpm to about 1200 - 1300 while stationary, particularly when cold. Above & below that it's fine

    lol sorry the oil question was just a random question, not related at all.

    Hope mine hasnt got a cracked head, its only done 700 miles!

    Its only when its out of gear and im coming to a stop, did it tonight pulling outside my house.

    Its really weird, like its about to cut out, then you slightly dip the clutch and it picks back up again and is fine!

    it sounds like a stupid question but do you notice it anywhere other than the road outside your house?

    I thought the same thing but found that there were some bumps in the road that my normal profile tyres and small wheels and standard suspension didn't pick up - but my low profile tyres / larger wheels and sri suspension bounce on. - assumed as it was near home that it was down to a the long driving session home.

    probably not but worth a try.

    Well..... Out of gear, your putting the extra strain of the gearbox onto the engine as is it idles.
    In the same way that starting a car without pressing the clutch will put more strain on the starter and engine.

    Perhaps there's a problem with the gearbox?

    Incidentally, I do agree with above comments, you should never allow a car to coast along in neutral, its driving basics, even in the highway code.

    And then going one step further, coasting in neutral around a corner is like signing your own death warrant.
    A cars handling is dynamically connected to the forces at the driven wheels.
