If you only bought the car a few weeks ago, why do you think the turbo is not working?

One easy way to check is to squash the main air pipe from turbo to intercooler (which is at the front of the car) and get someone to rev the engine. You should feel the increase in pressure in the pipe.

Turbo should kick in around 2000rpm 'ish. If you sit in about third with the revs at around 125-, then put your foot to the floor, you should feel the surge when it kicks in - it's quite noticeable...

cheers ste ,its just some one on here said they had a fuel issue like mine low mpg less than 30 , and said it might be that the turbo was not working and that would eat the fuel up so just trying to eliminate that as a cause, i hear a slight whistle when i pres clutch in while driving, the power seems okish but not as good as what i belive it should be from what ive read on here .

If the turbo wasn't working you'd know about it as 0-60 would take half an hour and you wouldn't get over 60mph. Probably rev no more than about 3000. Car would be completely dead.

Also - you should hear the whistle as it spools up - drive with the window down and give it a bit of beans you should hear it, and notice it surging at about 2K revs, as mentioned above.

Not necessarily always will a Turbo whistle.

If the vane is nicely balanced within it's bearings and the car is a bit miley, the whistle isn't always there.

It won't hurt to change all the filters & oil tbh... give the boost sensor & inlet elbow & good clean too, you will deffo notice a difference
