the 1,8 are gutless that ive been told and have only 5 speed box

the 120ps diesel engine doesnt suffer from any common problems as like the
150ps,although its an 8valve it does pull and im sure you can tune the diesel
    more than the petrol engine.

ive just taken in px against me zaffy a 55 plate facelift vectra sri 1.9cdti
    120ps in ultra blue,its got 75k miles,fsh,full mot,taxed till oct 2010
    atm its doing 47mpg.

i must admit that it is really a nice car and drives superbly

if ya interested then i just may be tempted to sell it

p.s although when i bought the zafira which was the 1.9cdti 150ps 12mths ago with 114k on clock and
since then ive replaced- gerarbox, clutch, flywheel, turbo, egr valve, alternator and when it went last week
it had 130k on clock but then these can just fail on any car at any mileage.

I have never had any issues with all 4 of my 1.9 CDTi's. It's worth noting that only a very small percentage of 1.9's suffer.

I have a 1.8vvt and it not that economical, and does only have a 5 speed box as others have said, but it is much faster than the 1.9 (120) and not far off as fast a 150 my friend was given as a cutosey car. Because the 1.8 is lighter at the front the diesels suffer noticably more understeer as well. HOWEVER I wish I had the diesel!!! Feul consumption is just too bad on the vvt...

Hello m8, i got a 120 design and i think it is great....I got a tunin box K&N filter and twin s,s exhaust on it...It gets good mpg arond 50 - 55 ish...I do alot of motorway miles, and i think it fine....People will scream at you" dont fit a tuning box " get a remap " but i prefer the box it adjusable and can remove it and put on when i want.....The 120 dont have the 150 problems...........

Hmm...much faster? Maybe from a standing start!

Had the petrol as a hire car a while back and it was awful in comparison to a modern diesel. Sluggish in real-world driving and unforgiveable mpg. Buy any of the three CDTIs.

Probably nearly as important to get one in the right spec and for the right money.

I nearly went for a CDTI 150 Elite, same age 20k more miles, for several hundred more than my 120 LS, but the general posted problems put me off. I do sometimes wish I hadn't let it, as all the posters say, these problems only affect a very small percentage, and I've had some issues with my 120, (alternator, spring, glow plugs, wiper motor, fan not changing temp; but these are Vectra things, not diesel vectra things!)

As long as you buy from somewhere, or someone, trustworthy.

Yes I do agree you the diesel is definately quicker for everyday driving because of the low-down torque and the mpg of the petrol is unforgivable which is why i want a diesel.

However I stand by what I said; rev the engine hard enough and the vvt is easily faster than the 120cdti and almost as fast as the 150cdti. The petrol really is a top-end performer, 4000rpm upwards and it really pulls for what it is....
