    Default Vec C 1.8SRI VVT & Vec C 1.9 SRI CDTI (120BHP)

Looking to come back to the fold.

Just a few queries so apologise for the idiocy involved:

I've seen a few facelift models and want to make a buy in the next couple of weeks so any info is warmly appreciated.

Do both these models have DMFs?

What are user experiences of the 1.8 SRI VVT? Whats BHP is it, average fuel consumption, usual problems etc?

For the 1.9 CDTI (120), how "torqy" are they? I had a 150 so just wanted to compare - too many random 150 faults, what are 120s like?

Does the 1.8 SRI VVT have a 6-speed box or not?

Any other info on these two models from people who have these cars would be most welcome.

    Many thanks in advance!

I get around 36mpg. I am happy with 140 bhp 0-60 in 10 seconds 131 top speed (no rocket, but no snail)
I might be wrong but, I am not sure what titley76 means by play with it. As far as I can find there is very little you can do to increase the performance of the 1.8vvt.

Many good points, comfort, mpg, size, reliable, looks great(some little mods finish it off nicely)fantastic value for money, So far a joy to drive and own.

Have you guys experienced any major problems, such as those found on the CDTI's for example?

Only owned mine for a month and it only has 11k miles on it. I used to own a 2.2dti elegance which gave me 2 years of trouble free motoring. I also owned a 1.8 petrol vectra estate for 2 years which also gave me trouble free motoring. I always buy low mileage cars so cross finger I do not get problems.
That said, I had trouble with my 2.0tdci low mileage Mondeo and my low mileage Seat Leon tfsi
I hope vauxhal are my lucky cars

Oh I have - just that its usually after you've bought it that things go pear-shaped!

As I've not had either of these models, just getting a "feeler" for what can/may go wrong with a view to keeping an eye out prior to purchase.

Sods law is that test drives rarely show up defects.

My 1.8 vvt sri has been great so far. Bit juicy..mpg can be anything between 25-40 (depending on how I drive) 5 speed box, is nippy at pulling away..could be better at overtaking but it's a small engine for a heavy car so lacks a bit of power at the top end. So far I've been very happy with it though, and I'm not in any rush to change it now!

36000 miles with 1.8vvt,performance as guys have said, no faults at all (aprt from self inflicted-but that another story).still on o.e pads and discs. Not a racer but proving to be reliable.
Does not use any oil between service
eats front tyres(could be my driving tho!)

What out for Clutch Judder on the 1.8vvti, mine suffers with it and it does my hea in! Is only intermittent though! Generally I am happy with the petrol although would prefer a few more MPGs! I would say it is slightly flat on acceleration but if you get the revs round a bot then it does shift! I also have a Golf GT TDI so I think that makes the Veccy feel a little slower than it did before I got the golf of that makes sense!! Touch wood though I am happ ywith the veccy and have no plans to change until I dont need such a big car (when the kids need less rubbish!) and I can afford my Golf R32!! Good luck with whatever you choose though!
