Default Gearbox problems - Thoughts if poss

    Hi Guys

Posted on Saturday that my clutch was on the way out, slippig and smelling quite bad.

Driving car to the yard, got half way there and it wouldn't drive. Car in gear clutch released and it just revs. Also able to push car whilst in gear.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks in advance

Hope you have some cash in your wallet matey, cant really be anything but a totally burned out clutch, unless there's a mechanical failure of something else which is keeping the plates from coming together (less likely) It's a garage job unless you can do the work yourself.

It could be the slave cylinder that has been worn and needs to be changed. It is a cylinder that presses on the clutch and works by the brakefluid from the car.

Can you see brake fluid running down on the ground from the gearbox??

Sorry but never will a slave cylinder cause problem described, the only way would be if the slave cylinder seized with the clutch released ie cover plate depressed,if it had leaked it would'nt have the pressure to stop the clutch returning to the engaged position.

    IMHO
    Cheers Ian
