    Default Extended Warranty

    Evening All!!

Is it possible to extend the warrranty through Vauxhall when the standard 3 year one comes to an end ? Any idea of pricing too ?

Whats everyones experience of extended warranty through a 3rd party like aa etc etc. Is there any out there that will cover all the usual CDTI 150 issues like Swirl flaps, EGV, injectors, DMF

    Cheers

There are numerous options to extend the VX warranty, it depends on when and where...!

    1
The first owner can extend the OE warranty from 60K to 80K miles for about £250, if done within 1 month of purchase or 1000 miles
    * This policy includes tyre insurance for up to 5 tyres in three years

    2
The next (and any subsequent) owner can extend the OE warranty from 60K to 80K miles for about £450

    3
If purchased on Network Q a second year (up to 20K miles) can be purchased for about £250

    4
The Complete Protection Plan be purchased for ANY Vauxhall car up to 5 years old
Brochure from VX dealership which has all prices
    * Take out the FULL plan, the servicing alone pays for itself as the small print includes brakes!

Once you get to 80K miles things get difficult, but not impossible
The AA breakdown and repair cover is available on cars up to 100K miles
My Complete Protection Plan expired in December 2009 just as I got to 100K miles, so took out the AA breakdown and repair cover the week before I got to 100K miles!
All for only £200, although the car actually has to breakdown and the AA have to attend, but that's easily arranged...

I also have tyre insurance, bought in 2008 and also expires at the end of this year
I've had one claim so far for a tyre bulge, tyre at 3mm, and fully paid out for a new tyre

Thats interesting about your AA warranty as i was just looking at their page. I must be going blind because i couldn't see where to get a quote anywhere. So am i correct in saying that you paid £200 for your warranty through AA. i take it this is the top Gold cover one ?

Ive come across Warrantywise who seem to offer a comprehensive warranty. Infact they claim to cover all mechanical, all electrical and all electronic parts. Think an email is due listing some of the common CDTI problems and see what they say.

It's not an AA warranty I have, it is the AA breakdown and repair cover :

A question about the breakdown cover. AA state that they will pay upto £500 per claim and you can make 5 claims. So is that 5 claims per year? and if the repair was more than £500, would you have to pay the difference?

    Thanks.

    Yes and yes
There is also the excess at £25 to pay

When I look back over all the cars I have owned over the last 20 years, I have called out "recovery" just eight times and never more than three times on one car (possibly twice in one year)

Ironically, some of those call outs were for stupid things...
Putting the car through the car wash, it switching off, and not restarting
Other vehicles flashing me in the dark and the coolant warning light on
    Alarm ECU failure
Changing a wheel during tyre rotation but the jack collapsing
    Complete tyre failure (Mondeo)
    Engine failure
    Puncture (Vectra C)
    Clutch failure

Equally, I have had a few breakdowns where I could have called out the AA but decided to continue my journey, and no doubt I could claim on these on this policy
    Fuse box failure
    Blocked SCV

The main reason I took out this policy is my reliance on my car for "business use"
I need the car available at all times, and at this high mileage this is likely to be its last year of my ownership, however let's see how it goes...
