Default Gas Engineers advice too, plz??

I have an Ideal Isar m30100 combi boiler. Supplies hot water ok. Problem being, when the central heating is on, it does not swith off when the heating reaches thermostat temp. If i then swith the hot water on, it diverts correctly and then it will set to rest, which means the central heating is off. Not a massive problem if were in during the day, but I noticed the problem initially when I woke up and thought....it's a bit warm in here.
Any thoughts or advice on this appreciated.

Thermostat defective? I take it that the boiler is cutting in and out when just heating is switched on?

Thermostat is hard wired and swiches(clicks) when temp is reached(flame symbol goes out too). So i think thermostat ok. Boiler does not respond to signal but does divert for hot water demand then switch off correctly.

    could it be diverter valve??

sounds like a possible pcb fault to me, worcester had a similar fault on the non condensing greenstar range was corrected when replacing pcb, could also be a sticky diverter valve hth

    Room thermostat, faulty relay?
    Room thermostats are £10-£50 (ebay).

Try to find the maintenance manual for your boiler though....

I've just fixed my central heating myself for £7.50, I got sick of so called engineers trying to tell me I needed £300 worth of repairs or a new boiler. Two thermostats and a bike pump was all I needed.....
They're really simple to work on and as long as your not messing with the gas, your pretty safe.
I actually find it offensive that some of these guys are allowed to call themselves "engineers".

I tend to agree with you on most of that, there are some good registered Gas Engineers around here but you pay through the nose for them and have to wait weeks or months. There is a shortage of decent ones the the good ones are taking advantage of the situation imo.
My thermostat appears to be working, clicks on and off as and when set and room temp is pretty normal. Just not switching off the boiler when temp reached.....

So to clarify. The demand light on the boiler goes out when the room temp is up to thermostat setting, but the boiler continues to burn?

If this is the case, it sounds like a dodgy PCB to me. But it works OK with hot water alone? I guess you don't have a hot water storage tank?

Then boiler isn't seeing the input change from the thermostat then perhaps maybe?
