Default I'm Confused Vec c 2.2 sri dti 1.9 sri cdti

Hi everyone, right im trying to decide which type of these cars to get & i need some help.
What is the difference between the 2.2 and the 1.9 apart from the obvious size in engine.
I was going to get the sri cdti 150 but i have been put off with all the problems with the dmf & inlet i seem to keep reading about, is the 2.2 any better or do these still suffer the same problems?
What other differences are there between the 2, facelift is more appealing but preface will serve its purpose.
What faults should i be looking for when buying? i take it these suffer like the vec b with rear trail arm bushes & arb's etc.

    Thank you.

The 1.9's (120bhp and 150 bhp) are newer designs, they replaced the other 4 cylinder diesels.

    Year : 62

    Mileage : 9K

2.2 DTI all the way. Alot more reliable than 1.9. Excellent economy too.

The DTI's suffer from DMF's - all vec's have them so they are all the same - Split boost hoses, Blocked boost sensors....

    150 cdti's inlet manifilds, DMF's, Swirl Valves, Egr's.... Also possible DPF's.

    Anyone for anymore?
Now I need a turbo to keep up!

So although liking the looks of the sri i am now thinking with all the related problems with these cars is it really worth it???
I used to own a vw passat tdi 130 and only ever had 1 problem which the turbo needed replacing (v.high miles), did cost a fair bit but that was really the only trouble 3 years i owned it, i do regret selling it.
What are your thoughts on this, would you knowingly go out and buy another 120 or 150 or knowing what you now experienced with the above cars, would go buy something different.
To me the 150 is begining to sound like a money pit.

I have had a 2.2dti a 2.0dti & now a 1.9cdti... the 1.9 is by far the better engine for power & economy... all cars are money pits & you here more horror stories on forums rather than the good news lol...
you pays your money & takes your chance... my next motor won't be a Vectra purely because i will be looking for an insignia next

Had a 1.9 CDti (150) and it was an absolute dream to drive. But to be honest, i did have a few probs with it so decided to swap it. Have just bought a 2.2 Direct petrol. It is not as aggressive to drive as the diesel as there's no turbo but still picks up well. Like any car, you can do all the researching in the world but you sometimes just need a bit of luck!

The dmf is becoming a common feature with all manufacturers & from what I've heard they're all having problems. My mate had a Passat for 3 yrs from new & got rid when the warranty ran last year because he'd had so many problems he couldn't afford the risk of keeping it any longer - It's probably the luck of the draw whatever you buy.
