Default Your Best Halfords Comedy Stories

Now, Halfords can be useful sometimes, plus I have their trade card which can offer good savings, so perhaps I shouldn't be knocking them. BUT, they do sometimes create very comedic scenarios, all off their own back. Please add your own (true) stories here. This is prompted by something that happened to me about 15 minutes ago:

I've just come back from the local Halfords superstore, to buy a 12v coolbox for the car. After a quick lap of the store, paying special attention in the camping/travel/caravan section, I couldn't find any coolboxes on display, so approached a shop assistant:

Me: "Excuse me, where can I find your coolboxes?"
    Shop assistant: "Huh?"
    "Coolboxes"
    "Eh?"
"Coolboxes....you plug them into the 12 volt socket in the car....they keep things cold....?"
"Don't know what you mean....maybe someone else knows"

He goes over to the parts counter and uses the phone to summon assistance. While we wait for assistance to arrive, he says "That's a new one on me, no one's ever asked for coolboxes before....don't think we do those".

"Yes you do, you do a whole range of sizes of them".

The phone on the counter rings, and someone tells him where in the store to look, and if they're not there then to look in the stockroom. He has a quick look in the camping/travel section, as advised, then crosses to the other side of the store also starts looking among the mobile phone holders. At this point I give up and ask the guy manning the stereo department, who goes and fetches exactly what I need.

Then next time you're in there, look at the fitment/application guide for their range of pollen filters. It shows that the Vectra-Cs pollen filter is on the O/S of the car and that it takes 15 minutes to fit. Ask one of the staff to fit the filter for you, and he'll spend 14 minutes of fruitlessly looking at the O/S of the windscreen scuttle of your Vec, before realising the filter's on the N/S and then taking 1 minute to replace the filter.

I needed a spare number-plate for my trailer and went to Halfords in Livingston where I had to fill in a form with my name and address etc.. When I came back to collect it I did a double-take. They'd only gone and put my postcode on the plate instead of my registration!
