Default Informed insurance of a few things

Told Norwich Union Direct about my 3 points which i gained back in february and also of the 'pending' remap (didnt tell them it was already done). First of all they did the points ok without a problem. But then i had to try and explain what i had done to the car. The kept calling it a remake... Nooo, I have not remade the engine. Its still the same one.. Was put on hold....

I hung up, the hold music had stopped and couldnt tell weather i was still connected or not. Phone back through the same performance again. I was REFUSED insurance on it!!! Oh hang on a minute she said (in her best accent from Banglalore) theres some notes on the screen. Had to explain to her it was a new computer program (bleh) to make the engine run better and as a side effect it increase the BHP from 150 to 195... Had to tell them who did it and they asked is a professional job. (I should hope VXR is!)

Anyways after 15mins on hold to the underwriters they agreed it. So all in all it cost me an extra £71 for the remap and 3points. Didnt fancy my insurance being cancelled in the event of an accident, but i do know why i was putting it off for so long now..

Too long winded for me, like this thread!! Anyways its sorted...

That's the 'benefit' of non-uk call centres mate... if they can't tick a box on the screen they go into panic...

still..£70 with it all declared isn't that bad really...

I had a ford focus that was insured through Norwich Union & I wrote it off but any way I had a s/s exhaust & k&n induction kit fitted and "forgot" to tell them about it but they still paid out because they didnt send anyone to look at the car! The guy from the garage said Norwich Union dont really bother with that, he said direct line was bad for it though. Anyway they paid out more than I paid for it so I was happy in the end

Believe it or not that was before i joined here and it was just a 'standard' repmobile. Early Sunday morning going into work 'a bit fast', and got collared. 3 lane stretch of A road nothing else around, well apart from 'them' obviously' but a right dampener on the day. I did the crime, and i did the time.

    *sighs*

Been sorting my insurance today too, tried Confused, Elephant and my existing insurers but this time i declared all mods.
Confused only gave 1 insurer that would cover mods at all, Diamond, the womans insurers as the wife is on the policy £336 fully comp.
    Elephant came back at £307
My current insurers More Than want £361

All of them stated that the mods are allowed but if i had a claim and repairs were needed to parts that involved a mod they would only put back to factory standard.

I just did mine.... got through to a NU call centre in Scotland.... very helpful!

I forgot to update it when I added the spoiler, so they have charged me £49 for the spoiler, the front grille and the 18" wheels which are going on on Sunday. They had to list the grille as a partial bodykit as they didn't have a category for 'sports grille'!!

mine jumped £150 when i disclosed, rear spolier, front splitter, rear apron, aftermarket wheels and exhaust. BUT i've gotta take the aftermarket wheels back off the insurance as i'm no longer running on them. Took long enough today to do the things i wanted and when she asked is there anything else we can do today I thought better of it and said no, not today..

Did you get a reduction for carrying the duvet in the boot? You know as an extra bit of safety equipment in case it gets cold and the car heater packs in?

i told them its for extra warmth cause the heaters broken and it makes it easier to have a snooze whilst driving slowly, using the cats eyes for guidance.
