Question Alternator swap on 1.9 150

Looks like my alternator is Fubar'd after only 4 years and 50 days and 42K miles and VX want to charge me £380 to replace it.

Would rather swap it myself and been quoted recon price of £140 to 190 depending on output. problem is I haven't got it off the car yet and I need to know which one its likely to be. Anyone know how to tell?

Also I believe there are more than one type - 3 leads and 2 leads. I can only see one main Brown wire and a very thin blue/white connected into the back. If there is a third where & what colour would it be.

It's quite tight down the back of the engine for a ham fisted old crock like me so any tips on access would be appreciated.
