While at it, what would be the law if converted to run just 501's as DRL's...

I think you'd be fine with HIDS, fogs dazzle drivers anyway so might aswell fit them.

I've never understood why fogs are deemed to dazzle but dip beams don't - I can't say I've ever been dazzled by properly aimed fogs so does anyone know?

I've actually noticed that my fogs have a cut off point, like dipped beams, but I don't know how much of the beam it cuts off. noticed this when I was pulled near to a wall

Fogs are designed to shine under the fog parrallel to the ground so unless your driving a really really low car I can't see how they can dazzle

Ahh well that'll be why there is a cut off point then right?? I've just e-mailed the dvla about this aswell to ask if there are any requirements for hids in fogs or even if it is allowed at all.

There's a cut off point to all lights, but put HID's in a non projector type lense and see how they dazzle, like our fogs... i'd still definatly fit them if have hids already...

DoT law states you can only fit HID's in lights that were designed to take them, have washer jets directed at the lights and are self levelling.

Whilst Vec C headlights were designed to take Normal and HIDs, the front fogs were definitely not.

Whether you get caught is another matter

I think its more if the road is wet etc, the reflection of the light can dazzle being that close to the road surface
