    Default Lexus GS 450h

    WOW, what a car!

    3.5 V6 lump = 292bhp plus a permanent-magnet electric motor kicking out 197bhp. Working in conjunction with each other the peak power is 340bhp.

    0-62mph = 6 seconds

    35.8mpg combined.

    Apparently, just cruising around it uses the V6 only occasionally. When you floor it the engine starts seamlessly and propels you down the road and charges the batteries for you..

    Price = £38,015

    Wait a couple of years and that will be a good buy.

    hmm - I've had rechargable batteries after a few years.

    No - only joking - yes it will be a good car , and the torque will be superb.

    I've got an Auto Express from a few weeks ago, with that lexus road tested against a BMW 535d M SPORT, cracking car but not as economical as claimed, that was one of the negative points of their verdict. The best they got on a steady cruise was 30.8mpg, dropping to 20.6mpg when drove hard, with their overall average coming in at 26.7mpg !! Overall average for the BM was 33.1mpg

    I got those figures from July's EVO magazine. I wouldn't mind finding out for myself.
