    Default DVLA database

Lately I have been looking a new quotes from various insurance companies, I have noticed that my 1.9 CDTI SRI is showing up as a V6 when I enter my reg on the vehicle enquiry doofer, this created a sinking sinking feeling in my gut so after a couple of bitten finger nails I decided to give the dvla a ring and enquire about this fearing the worse.

I spoke to a guy that was very very helpful with regards to this worry of mine, after a couple of checks he basically said that my vectra was showing up on there computers as the correct model, emissions ect and that the insurance people etc need to update there databases and it is a very common topic for those that work at the DVLA.

Has anybody else had this sort of thing happen to them........

According to my insurance docs my car is a 120 not a 150 but I checked with them yesterday & it is declared & insured as a 150 plus all the mods - I'm guessing this has something to do with the database

Would have been interesting to see what would have happened had you had to make a claim. "......We're very sorry sir but we are unable to pay out as there seems to be a discrepency with regard to the engine size of the vehicle....".

I think I would go as far as to say they definately would have done that. You would have had a right fight on your hands, and an expensive one I would think too.

My car is a 150 but when the reg is checked it comes up as a 120. Had fun on the phone with the insurance company when I bought he car. Answered all their questions -- engine size and reg number and they insured the car. I noticed on the cover note that came through that it read as a 120 so i called them up to correct it. They wanted another £40 a year for the 150 and nearly implied that I was being fraudulent for not telling them the bhp figure. I told them that I answered all the questions re the car and it was them that insured it wrong. Got nowhere and went to another insurance company.
