    Default EGR Valves

    Hey there my car has just been put into The garage cause the engine management light was on. Just had a hone call from the garage and they say the EGR Valve is stuck. As far as i have heard the EGR valve might just be stuck so i have asked to keep the old one. i have a few Q.

    1. What does the EGR Valve do?

    2. Is £335 for a new EGR Valve and fitting it a rip off?

    Car = Vectra 1.9 CDTI SRI (150)

    Cheers.

    Yes, very much a rip off, they are £90 del off eBay for a VX one, and fitting takes 5 mins literally - DO NOT PAY THEIR PRICE !!!!!!!!!

    Its a valve that recirculates some exhaust gasses back through the intake system, mainly for emission purposes.

    When mine failed completely the car ran very lumpy, was very hesitant up to 2000rpm (kangarooing down the road) and I could no longer feel the turbo kicking in.
