    Default static Revs

    Hi all

Just a quick question if I may!

Occasionally when at lights etc, the engine revs are not static i.e. about 6 but ranges from 4 to about 9? Sometimes making it stall!

    Any suggestions

C, 1.8, 52 club, saloon, one of the first. (complete wiring system) (It has been re-programmed, some things work differently i.e. cc – 3mph up or down no longer works, up=on, down=off!) (collective thoughts are that it’s an SRi downed to a club?) and the petrol consumption has gone up!

    Vehicle : Jaguar XF 3.0D V6

All cruise should be able to speed up / slow down by the button, the SRi / Club thing would affect this function. But why would anyone downgrade an SRi to a Club model?

As to unstable idle. Have you cleaned the throttle body ?

I have had it from new - relation quite high up in a dealership. Perhaps to sell another car? When I change parts I have to take the old one in to enable me to get the correct one, using the computer diagrams have proven unreliable - off the top of my head, like the air filter/box, it is not a club? Who's moaning - not I.

back to the throttle body cleaning - no. so how do I, had a quick look at haynes but no real help there!

The throttle body is at the end of the air ducting from the air cleaner. Remove the large pipe and have a look inside.

I cleaned mine with a rag soaked in a little petrol and used an old toothbrush to get into the corners. Takes about 15 mins to do and can show very good results. Clean the whole area, including the throttle butterfly.

If you like you could you PM me you chassis number and I'll take a look at TIS to see what it comes up with.

    thanks will do

If I have not been on a run for a few months I put a cleaner in the petrol and this usually helps - but not this time, so I will do as you suggest.
