Default Veccy booked into MPG for induction manifold

With my new 'job', I simply don't have the time to do this job myself. That and I don't have my tools or any facilities. So I gave Ian at Midpoint Garage a ring today and I've booked her in on Saturday.

I'm supplying the new manifold, actuator and FIAT egr blanking gaskets and Ian reckons on 8hrs and £400 to do the job.

It's not a situation I'm fond of as I'd much rather tackle jobs like this myself than pay someone else to do it, but I'm stuck. That said, MPG and Ian come pretty highly recommended, that's why I'm going with them.

Any of the regulars got any thoughts on this?

Well that's the car in at MPG for the week. After he's done the inlet manifold, Ian's going to put her through her first MoT.../gulp.

Hopefully it's not going to break the bank , if it's not too much then she might be getting remapped next month...

Well she failed her first MoT on a leaking shock. I'm a bit disappointed at that tbh - I've not had many main cars in the past that have failed.

Anyway, the damage is £650 with a new Vx shock fitted so no remap for a while by looks of it.

Annoying thing is, I was hoping to upgrade the suspension in a few months but now I've had to buy a standard shock at £165 fitted. Grrr.

Still, at least no springs were broken...

Surely that would be a job you could do yourself, even with another MOT charge on top surely would have been cheaper that £165...?

What made up the rest on top of £400 then..?

Got the car back and it's a joy to drive. Not having known what it was like without the knackered inlet manifold, all i can say is it's much better now.

Even though it cost an arm and a leg, it was worth it! Hat off to Ian at MPG, car was ready when he said it would be and with no issues. Will deffo be going back. for a remap. soon. ish.

*Edit: oh and I managed 59mpg average on the 70 mile drive home...
