    Question Clunks when starting

    Hi there,

Just recently I've noticed this as being a problem, its got notably worse. When I startup and use the clutch to edge forward or even just use clutch control to start off I get this clunking racket of a noise occuring. It sounds quite worrying.

    I have a 52 plate Vectra C. 2 Lite DTI.

Does anyone have any indication of what this may be?

    Cheers

I had a problem similar just after the a garage changed the outer cv joint, the hub nut had not been tightened up correctly... once i nipped the nut up a bit more the clunk dissapeared.

dh.dti could be correct, do you also get a knocking when on full lock one way or the other? If so I would suspect the cv joints.

Guys I just pulled up to a friends and when turning the engine off had the usual rattle and clunk so I jumped out and had a look underneath. This is what I saw:

A panel seems to have come loose, the bolts must have rotted and fallen out...

That's a heat shield matey, you have 2 options remove it completely or get underneath & refit using large washers.
