    Default timing chain 2004 sri 2.2

    hi anyone can help me out do i need to change the timing chain on my vectra once it reaches 100k i have heard that there is problems with them snapping i have only had the car a week and people are telling me all sorts of things about them any help would be appreciated thanks

    best i can say is get it checked if your not sure about it,have had mine nearlly snap at 70k and heard of them going earlier but have also heard of them lasting alot longer,vx say they should last the life of the car but find that vx know very little of what their cars can and can't do.very expensive to repair if it does go btw.hth

    cheers mate for advice the car has 90k on it now think i will just get it checked to make sure

    No point getting it checked then having to get it replaced, on 90k just get it booked in and changed and ASAP TBH mate unless its already been done.

    Even though its the same engine with a few different bolt on parts I've never really heard of a NET chain going south TBH. The only difference in the chain set up is the NET uses a spring operated tensioner, where as the 2.2's use one that uses oil pressure to operate. I'd imagine 100K is the is what VX advise.
