Perhaps a silly question about TP

Don't know what I'm expecting here, or if I've missed something glaringly obvious.

When listening to the radio, say Londons talk station LBC, then the traffic comes on. I have my TP set to do the announcements so as I expect the volume comes on that little bit louder. (as in the settings)
What I don't expect is the quality! WTF. The sound goes from a nice 21st century stereo sound to 1970's mono with no bass or treble for the TP, it sounds dreadful.

I don't suppose many use TP but those who do, whats your interupt quality like????

I use Traffic announcements and find they are similar quality to the radio. However, I suppose it is also down the quality of the broadcast too. i'm not from down your way so don't know how LBC do it. Is it the same quality when you get BBC traffic interuptions?

Not sure if your radio is DAB - mine is.

I think the TP may be on FM, as when mine cuts between 'normal' DAB radio and TP announcement, there is a continuity gap and you hear the same bit twice ( a brief burst of it anyway ) as well as a difference in quality.

Does this on mine too Matty, It removes all bass and cranks up the treble on all TP announcements

It's almost lick a loud crack/bang that happens, and the TA announcement sound is all treble with no bass at all.

I remember the first time I heard this on my Vectra B. I had the TP volume set to 5, and was listening to the radio quite quietly on the way to work early in the morning. Then the TP cut in and scared the living daylights out of me. I tend not to use it any more.
