    Default Strange CDTI 120 problem

I dont know if its the same engine in the Signum/Vectra as it is in the Astra, but just seen something really strange...

The cars a 58 plate Astra SRI CDTI 120 with 15'000ish miles.

    The problem is really random...

Randomly, ALL the warning lights on the dash will come on and at the same time ALL the needles (Speed, Fuel, Revs etc) shoot all the way to max and then come back to normal. The car doesnt rev high or anything, just the dials.

It does it for just a second or so, the car doesnt loose performance, just moves as if nothings happened, with no warning lights staying on.

Anyone got any ideas? Seen anything like this before?

Sounds like a problem with the CIM, which is the dashboard module.
Would be best to get a code read, the CIM stores its own codes

I was thinking something like that. As there doesnt seem to be a fault, I mean no warning lights etc, will it still store a code if its still running normal?

Honestly not sure, however I've Op Com and the various ECUs on the car store random faults without lighting up any fault lamps. So they can register codes without putting up the spanner light.

Cheers for the advice, I'll tell them to get it to the stealers see if there's any codes. Doing a quick google search, seems that the CIM is a common fault on the Astras...
