Default Fiat EGR Gasket for a 150 CDTI

So - poll to find out if anyone has actually fitted the Fiat blanking plate style gasket to a Vectra CDTI 150 and had success, i.e no spanner light / fault code?

    Me:
    Vectra 2005 CDTI 150
New Inlet fitted 1 year ago. Fiat style gasket fitted today and P0400 fault code thrown straight away..
    No Success.

Just the new square one, as the (semi-blanking) oval one isn't for the 150 EGR.

surprised you dont have issues as I can only imagine the soot would be choking the egr valve??

Not at all, the gasket increases the airflow within the EGR (by creating a kind of swirl effect) which helps keeping it cleaner.

Fiat and Alfa have been using these for a while now with a major decrease of EGR failures reported (especially in Alfa's ).

    Thumbs up

I have a 150bhp engine and I've fitted the rectangular plate, but not the genuine fiat one - i made my own out of a 7up can. I took the EGR off to clean and stenciled around the end that fits my (new) inlet manifold.

After I'd done 1,000 miles i took the EGR valve off to see what the make shift 7up gasket looked like, and it looked the same as when i put it in...

I've not had any performance issues! but i think its a little less power/responsive, sometimes under higher gears (4-6)... It seems to be noisier too!!! all this might just be done to my paranoia...

All this aside, if it prevents unnecessary amounts of soot entering the inlet manifold only to reduce certain exhaust gasses - i can live with redirecting all these peaces of unnecessary amounts of soot straight out the exhaust...

Well - I don't know what to make of that - why would it work on one and not the other..
Only thing that I can think of is Software levels in the ECU.. When mine went in for the 3rd injector mod - they updated the software which was (apparently) a good few versions behind.

Again when they changed the Inlet there was an item on the invoice (all be it FOC) for an update to engine software.
Maybe the newer software is more sensitive to the EGR flow - dunno!

There was a software update for the EGR wasn't there, maybe the settings in that are very fine (to help with the issue) and the gasket reduces airflow too much for the new settings? (just guessing to be fair).
