    its shocking how they are now going up in value. £4750 is a serious amount of cash for a capri, however nice.

    Andy its not just a capri m8 its a 280 turbo one of the rarest capri's there is after the Tickford have had 3 of these over the years and they are truley stunning cars !!!!

    Back in a V6 !!!!!!!!!!!! And lovin it !!!

    Does 280 mean 2.8 litre? With a turbo strapped on, and the weight of a Capri, that thing must go like a rocket?!

    Thats right D there was two companys in the 80's who did turbo conversions one was janspeed the other was turbo technics if i remember right TT also did a twin turbo on the 2.8 engine now that was a beast !!!!

    Back in a V6 !!!!!!!!!!!! And lovin it !!!

    That's the bit I didn't follow (from my searching). There's the 280 Brooklands and then there's a 2.8 Turbo Technics. Is the Brooklands conversion done by Janspeed then?

    I also read that "Someone in 1986, after they knew Ford was going to cease production of the Capri, did plan to make a limited run of the Capri called the 'Capri 500', a 245 bhp twin turbo beast, but it never happened!" (Quote straight off a website - don't know how accurate it is?)

    Edit: Just found this link that seems to shed a bit more light. Transpires that Ford planned to make just 500 280 Brooklands, but then discovered that they had 1038 bodyshells so, yep, they then made 1038 280 Brooklands. Problem was, apparently, they had only sourced/made enough paint for the original 500 - so they must have thinned it down a bit 'cos if you sit one of the first cars off the line next to one of the latter - the latter are lighter in colour!! (Paint info from another site).

    I dont know for certain who did the conversion on the 280 i think it was turbo technics as Janspeed did more XR2 turbo's as they specialised on carburettor conversions

    Some of the best Capri's came from south Africa AS did most of the best fords in the 80's ................Excluding of course the mighty Cosworth and Tickford capri.

    EDIT be warned you are not really allowed to call this car a Capri 280 brooklands as brooklands only refered to the paint colour all literature refers to the car as a 280 capri....................Wouldn't want to upset the purist's that might be reading as we know how funny Ford owners ARE !!!

    Thats cheap, I saw one begining of the year in AT and it was up for 10k.


    p.s dont buy it, I used to have one and they can be bad for your licence, I nearly lost mine while i owned it.
