I believe the unit is a sealed unit and is rivetted in place in the boot lid. It's a unit replace job, not a repair job.

Some are easy and some are a pain you have to take rear boot panel off and then look to see id its encoled or open with holes,if its has holes then you can use a torx bit to undo retaining clips if its enclosed you will either have to drill holes to get at torx bolts (there should be pilot holes marked ) or use fueler guages on outside of boot to press clips down to release it.

Some one else might know a better way or break it and remove as your changing it any way

Yeah you have to drill 3 holes in the backing plate to get to 3 nuts that remove the center brake light.

Had to break mine into bits to remove as it was sealed inside. But once out, fitting the new one was simple, just plug in and push into place. Plenty come up on ebay so worth a look there...
