Default Twin SRi Backbox on - Just

Well it did take me 6 weeks to get the irmsher y piece and back box from Vauxhall - but i eventually picked them up on Thursday night.

Ordered the parts on Monday 11th January - i was told it would take 3 days to receive the parts (irmsher had a y piece in stock). I went to pick them up on the Friday and they hadn't received them yet.

Monday 18th January - i rang up Vauxhall and was told they would be in at the end of the week. I rang on Thursday to check and they weren't. I was told if they hadn't arrived by Saturday they would re-order on Monday.

Wednesday 27th January - I got a phone call and they were in. I agreed to pick them up on the friday to fit on Saturday

Friday 29th January - I arrived about 4:45 to be told that the parts man had gone away for a long weekend and took locked it away and took his keys with him.

Friday 5th February - i agreed that i would pick the parts up. I left work half day to collect them and wahey they were there and they even put them stright into my boot for me.

Saturday 6th February - After dropping the gf off shopping (only way i could have some peace to fit them) i took the existing back box off and cut the pipe where indicated on the instructions. I lined up the y piece and both back boxes - this is where i had my first problem. They had sent me another left hand back box - doh. I had already cut the original exhaust so couldn't put it back on so had to put the y piece and original back box back on. I had to make a home made bung to stop the other side from blowing.

Monday 8th February - I went into the dealers first thing and they apologised but they ordered the part that irsher told them to order - hard to believe when it isn't an irmsher back box. I was starting to get a little narked by this point as i even gave them part numbers for both parts and they ordered something different. Anyways, they ordered me a back box and they told me it would be delivered on Wednesday 10th Feb.

Wednesday 10th February - I received a text from Vauxhall saying that the part was on back order and it would take a few days longer. I rang up to see when how long and he told me that since the text he had contacted Vauxhall and it wouldn't be due till 18th February. This wasn't good because i was due to take my gf to Edinburgh (400 miles return) for Valentines day and didn't really want to drive up there with an exhaust blowing. Nothing they could do so i just had to wait.

Thursday 18th February - it was finally here and i couldn't wait to fit it. (5 minute job really)

Saturday 20th Feb - I fitted it, but i had a problem. The original left hand pipe stuck out about an inch further than the new right hand pipe. The left hand pipe was as far onto the y piece and the right hand was on the end. I am going to have to cut the y piece on the left hand slightly. But can't do it yet as its snowing.

Here are the pics - you can see on the last pic how far it sticks out.

can you not pull the right hand one forward a touch rather than cut the 'Y' section ????

No tried that, it is pretty much on the rim of the y piece so can't pull it out any further.

I think cutting is the only option really.
