    Default GSi 3.2 brake advice

I want to fit new brake discs and pads all round to my GSi. Does anyone have any recommendation, based on personal experience, on which brand to use? Is VX best or are Brembo, EBC and others worth the extra? I mean REALLY worth it?

Also, will I need any special tools? At present, my collection of Torx and other modern tools is woeful but I am keen to tackle jobs on my GSi myself. I have worked on classic cars - mostly my own - for many years but am new to moderns.

Is it difficult to change the discs and pads? It is not on my old cars and I suppose it should be the same for the Vectra but is it?

    Cheers.

Personally I'd stick with VX discs and pads but others no doubt, will beg to differ.

These two threads cover the disc and pad replacement http://www.vectra-c.com/forum/showth...ighlight=brake and http://www.vectra-c.com/forum/showth...ighlight=brake. OK, so the first thread is not a GSi but gives you an idea.

There's a good selection of inexpensive torx bits and sockets on Flea Bay. I bought mine off here for under £20 and they do the job.

Thank you for your reply. Very helpful. VX it is. I was thinking to stick with VX anyway. And I shall seek out some Torx bits.

Don't forget the piston rewind tool if you're doing the rear ones as well.

I have a caliper piston spreader but not the tool to wind the rears in. Where is the best (cheapest) place to get one from? Does Halfrods sell them (not that they're cheap )?
