I reckon someone up there likes me.....................!!!

I recently applied to our management at work for the temporary position of Team Leader as Maternity Cover for one of our existing managers, along with about half a dozen colleagues. We currently have three teams on our helpdesk, each of ten staff.

I was called into our main managers' office this morning to be told that they have decided that , as a Helpdesk we have grown to the extent that we need to extend to have an aditional fourth team, and that, if I chose to accept the position, the job of Team Leader for the new team would be mine!!!!!!!!

This is a permanent position, as opposed to the temporary maternity cover, and to say I am a bit excited is an understatement!!!!!!! I have been asked to go home and think it over and confirm to them in the morning, but this is just a formality, as it is what I have been after all along. Frustratingly it is not to be officially announced for two weeks, so I can't tell anyone in the office, but I have had the most enormous cheesy grin on my face all afternoon

It starts as from the 1st August and is a huge scary step with lots of new responsibility, technically I am entering the ranks of management, but I can't wait - the extra money will be pretty cool too!! I am stunned because I have only recently had another promotion, so this was totally out of the blue. Nearly cried and bounced round the boss's office like Tigger!!!!!!
