    Default Getting my moneys worth

The story started June 2009, I began to notic my clutch would intermittently slip.
Concerned for the wellbeing of my motor I decided to price up my new clutch. Horrified at the idea of paying around £1000 for the new clutch and flywheel I decided I would just take it easy on the driving and see how long I can make it last.
Which brings our story to Jan 2010, 6 months and 10,000 additional miles after first noticing my problem it began to escalate, slipping when ever it dame felt like it and causing my poor 2.0 DTi to refuse to put what little power it has onto the wheels.
After a quiet winter, business was poor resulting in funds being tight. So I had to hold on to what clutch I had left till I saved the money.
After some Ebay'ing and research I managed to price the parts for £489.99 and Labour for £165.

So today I've had the old clutch out and the new one in....the mechanics showed me and kindly allowed me to keep my old clutch. Sort of sentimental sakes.

Look at the state of it!

Cheapest I found locally was £175+VAT then landrover specialist on the same industrial park as I work agreed to do it for the £165. I wish mine was only £275! Everyone else who sources from the UK wanted £650+Vat! for the parts.

I don't think it had fallen off whilst opperation (I can imagine there be some noise from the bellhousing) but because it's so worn and brittle it must have just fallen off when they removed it. You can see the fibers from the plates where it's snapped.

Not the kitchen work top, works counter top. (Don't ask why it's made from a kitchen work top) Not my problem once I go home

How far had you done on that in total? Mine's on 134,000 miles on original clutch.

Well we bought the car on 104,000 with part history. So unknown if it was the original. But it's just hit 140,000 now.
