What would you do if you were in this situation

I had a post up a while ago http://www.vectra-c.com/forum/showthread.php?t=97783 regarding a conservatory built by Anglian. Basically they made a hash of it. We have been going back and forth with this since October 2009

I have now had a meeting with them and they have offered to re-build the entire conservatory including using the right bricks and increasing the floor height

Fit a new fuse box and earthing that their surveyor missed (At their cost of £650)

Offered us 5% discount which equates to around £750 and fitting the laminate floor we have purchased

Would you accept the offer? Or would you say

off?

A hard one, but as you others and they now have admitted its need re-building by whoever does it and if someone else, you still need to re-claim the 50% down you've paid already. And get them(new contractor) to demolish at cost and remove then start over. If your confident this time that there will been good competent workmen on sight at all times no the previous cowboy bodgers properly overseen by someone that knows what their doing and yourself as well for peace of mind step by step. Then although maybe not the best solution, a cost effective end to the matter with the result that was origonally sort after. Go.od luck what ever route you take

True but I wanted it in October 2009 not a shell I,m still not using

just feel that we have been screwed over and that its just all now coming about because we threatened them with watchdog and solicitors they suddenly sat up and took notice

Anglian will be re-building it and its going to built whilst I,m away in Africa but they have said no money is to be paid until I return and inspect it. I may propose that the girlfriend gets my builder in to check the work prior to them constructing the framework....and yeah we just want to get it finished and used!

Think you might have to go with it. Sounds like they are trying to sort it out. I would make sure you have a very detailed description of exactly what they are offering & what you are expecting. Don't pay anything more until completed to your satisfaction. If they screw it up again then involve solicitors.

I hear what you're saying & it would really P me off if I was in your situation but if someone else does it you may finish up with just as many problems & will miss out the discount - it's a lousy situation which will hopefully be sorted by Anglian & at least they have admitted they are in the wrong so the onus is now on them to do a good job - just bite the bullet go for it!!

You still owe them money, if you don't like it then the ball is in your court. I'd argue than I wouldn't release the funds until I was 100% happy.

Would go with it then i think if you can get your build to pop in, the thought of them on a free leash again sounds scary, though doubt they be able to afford to cut corners again (pardon the pun). The only other thing is (5%) bit of an insult considering all the grief but again just be good for you too see the back of it all and have the space and peace that you wanted.

I originally told them I wanted it rebuilt -15% discount

I,m now going to say to them

I want a full schedule of dates for the re-build including the time to demolish and rebuild
My builder to inspect the build before the fitters fit the conservatory
7.5% discount (Which meets them in the middle of my previous request)
Electrical connection to be to current legislation
Sample of bricks ordered before the build commences

Do you think thats fair?
