    Default Ayyup from Derbyshire

Hi all, been perusing the site intermittently over the past month or so, just vetting if I like you lot

A couple of months ago we swapped our Civic Type R for a nearly new facelift Black Vectra 3.0 V6 Diesel SRi CDTi. We needed the extra space after we had a new arrival to the family four months ago.

I've never really been into Vauxhalls since my first ever car, a silly misguided purchase of a 1964 Victor FB! Bought it with my first grant cheque in 1991, unfortunately the cheque didn't cover all the welding it required and engine rebuild. It ran for about 10 months then stayed on my parents drive for a few years with best intent of restoring it. I couldn't take the nagging anymore and eventually scrapped it, along with cutting my hair!

So after numerous VWs and the Honda we now have another Vauxhall and I'm really impressed so far. Was going to go down the Audi or Saab route, but value for money guided me towards the Vauxhall, although I do really like the look for the newer Vectras anyway, particularly in black.

I'm into my classic German cars, mainly aircooled VWs, having had a couple of Beetles and a Karmann Ghia, I've been running as my daily driver for the past 5/6 years my 1976 Porsche 912e. Its a 911 with a 2 litre 4 cylinder engine, cheaper to run and better handling than a 911 of the same era.

I'll post some pictures shortly, don't have any of the Vectra yet.

    thanks fellas

The Karmann Ghia is one that I would like to have kept, though as usual space and money stands in the way. At least it was replaced by the Porsche, although having had it for nearly 6 years I'm getting itchy feet for something else, maybe another older Porsche or an early Beetle, so long its old and fun.

really pleased with the Vectra, didn't fancy stepping out of the Type R into a diesel, but I was surprised how much fun the Vectra can be, albeit in a calmer way.

Also makes a change having a car with plenty of buttons to press, I've also had the rear windows tinted so the little un doesn't go blind, beats having the stick on sun screens.
