Double din help needed

i have decided to upgrade my stereo for a pioneer double din unit but i am totally confused

If i buy a double din unit which comes with a cage can i just buy a double din facia or do i have to buy the whole double din fitting kit like this 1

I had to buy the same kit when I put my aftermarket double din in , shame really because I only needed the fascia

This is whats confusing me. I have been told i will need the whole kit including the cage yet the stereo is brand new with a cage and there is a facia sold seperate

My Alpine double din unit's cage was too big for the hole in the Vectra dash (it's not quite a full size double din hole) and I had to use the complete fitting kit. The Alpine unit slotted into the fitting kit perfectly, all I had to do was fit the locking mechanism to the unit.
